Rigger-2, Rigger Level-3, Firewatcher
Description
The roles of Rigger and Firewatcher are critical positions within large-scale industrial projects, especially in high-risk environments like the Saudi Aramco refinery operations in Jizan. These professionals play an essential role in maintaining safety, efficiency, and smooth workflow during heavy lifting, rigging operations, and hot work activities. Riggers are responsible for handling and securing loads, ensuring that lifting operations are conducted safely, while Firewatchers are assigned to monitor work areas where fire hazards may arise. Their presence helps prevent accidents and ensures compliance with strict safety regulations. In a refinery setting, where operations involve hazardous materials and complex machinery, these roles are not only important but also indispensable for maintaining operational safety and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Rigger Level-2 and Level-3 professionals are responsible for preparing, inspecting, and managing rigging equipment used in lifting heavy loads. They must ensure proper attachment of loads, communicate effectively with crane operators, and follow all safety protocols during lifting operations. Higher-level riggers, such as Level-3, often supervise teams and handle more complex tasks requiring advanced expertise. On the other hand, Firewatchers are tasked with monitoring work areas during welding, cutting, or other hot work processes. They must remain alert at all times, identify potential fire risks, and take immediate action in case of emergencies. Both roles require strict adherence to safety guidelines, continuous coordination with team members, and a proactive approach to hazard prevention.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates applying for these roles must possess TUV certification, which ensures they meet international safety and technical standards. Riggers should have strong knowledge of rigging techniques, load calculations, and equipment handling. Physical fitness, attention to detail, and the ability to work in challenging environments are essential. Firewatchers must be highly vigilant, quick to respond, and knowledgeable about fire prevention methods and emergency procedures. Previous experience in refinery or industrial projects is highly preferred. Additionally, applicants must have valid documentation, including Ajeer registration and chamber verification, to be eligible for deployment. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions are also crucial for success in these roles.
