Industrial shutdown projects, such as those conducted at SABIC facilities, require highly skilled personnel to ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. Two key roles for these projects are HSE Officers and Work Permit Receivers.
HSE Officers are responsible for monitoring safety standards, enforcing compliance with health and safety regulations, and ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel on site. They conduct inspections, risk assessments, and training sessions to prevent accidents and maintain workplace safety during critical shutdown operations.
Work Permit Receivers manage the permit-to-work system, ensuring that all industrial activities are authorized, safe, and documented properly. They verify work permits, monitor ongoing tasks, and coordinate with supervisors to maintain compliance with project safety requirements. In high-risk shutdown environments, these roles are essential to maintain safety, efficiency, and smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
HSE Officer:

Receive, review, and authorize work permits for all site activities.

Monitor compliance during the execution of high-risk or specialized work tasks.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates for these positions must have professional experience in industrial safety, construction, or shutdown projects. Key qualifications include:

Relevant certifications and approvals in HSE or work permit management.

Registration with Ajeer or Chamber for legal employment.

Valid Muqeem with at least 3 months’ validity.

Insurance coverage and SABIC medical clearance.

Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
Both roles require attention to detail, physical fitness for site inspections, and the ability to work under high-pressure conditions during shutdown projects.
