Job Role Overview & Importance
A Firewatcher is one of the most important safety support roles in shutdown and maintenance projects. During welding, cutting, grinding, or other hot work activities, Firewatchers help prevent fire hazards by continuously monitoring the work area. Their presence is critical in oil and gas plants where flammable materials and sensitive equipment require strict safety control. Companies prefer approved and trained Firewatchers because they help reduce incidents, protect workers, and ensure shutdown activities continue without delays.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Selected candidates will be responsible for monitoring hot work zones, checking surrounding areas for fire risks, and ensuring fire extinguishers and emergency equipment remain available. They will observe welding, grinding, and cutting activities closely and respond immediately if sparks, smoke, or unsafe conditions appear. Firewatchers must communicate with supervisors, permit receivers, and safety officers during operations. They may also help maintain barricades, warn nearby workers, and keep records related to work permits or safety checks. Discipline, alertness, and fast response are essential for this role.
Skills, Experience & Eligibility
Applicants must hold a valid Arrazi ID and Authorization, as this is a mandatory requirement for selection. Previous experience in shutdowns, refinery work, petrochemical plants, or industrial maintenance projects is strongly preferred. Candidates should understand hot work safety, fire prevention procedures, emergency response, and basic site communication. Valid Iqama, Muqeem, passport, insurance, and other required documents with minimum three months validity are necessary. Candidates ready for immediate mobilization will have a strong advantage. Fresh candidates without approval are unlikely to qualify for this vacancy.
