SAFETY OFFICER – REQUIRED
Description
The Safety Officer plays a critical role in maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards on project sites. This position ensures that all operations are carried out in accordance with approved safety procedures, company policies, and industry regulations. In the oil and gas sector, especially in upstream projects like Jafurah Phase-II, safety is a top priority due to the high-risk environment. The Safety Officer is responsible for identifying hazards, preventing accidents, and promoting a strong safety culture among workers and contractors on site.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Officer will conduct regular site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly. The role includes monitoring daily work activities, ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and verifying compliance with permit-to-work systems. The officer will also conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and emergency response drills to maintain awareness among workers. Reporting incidents, investigating near-misses, and preparing detailed safety reports for management are also key duties. In addition, the Safety Officer will coordinate with project supervisors and engineers to ensure all operations meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of HSE procedures, risk assessment techniques, and emergency response protocols. Experience in oil and gas or large-scale construction projects is highly preferred. Candidates should be familiar with Jafurah Upstream safety standards and Saudi Aramco-approved systems. Strong communication skills are essential for delivering safety briefings and coordinating with diverse teams. A valid safety certification and proven field experience in hazardous environments are required for this role. The ability to respond quickly under pressure and enforce safety rules strictly is crucial for success in this position.
