SAFETY OFFICER/ WPR / FIRE WATCH/ STAND BY MAN
Description
Industrial safety and construction supervision roles are designed to protect workers, assets, and project environments by enforcing strict safety regulations and operational standards. A Safety Officer plays a vital role in identifying risks, ensuring compliance with approved systems such as Kemya and SATROP, and implementing preventive safety measures across the site. Work Permit Receivers are responsible for managing the permit-to-work system, ensuring that no task begins without proper authorization and safety clearance. These positions ensure that industrial activities are carried out in a controlled, safe, and efficient manner, minimizing accidents and maintaining productivity at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Professionals in these roles are responsible for monitoring daily site operations and ensuring that all workers strictly follow safety guidelines and company procedures. Safety Officers conduct regular inspections of work areas, equipment, and tools to identify hazards and enforce corrective actions immediately. They also conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to promote awareness among workers. Work Permit Receivers manage all permit documentation, coordinate with supervisors and engineers before task execution, and ensure that all required safety checks are completed. Additionally, maintaining detailed reports, supporting emergency response procedures, and ensuring compliance with client and regulatory standards are key responsibilities of these positions.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates applying for these roles must possess strong knowledge of industrial safety practices, hazard identification techniques, and risk assessment procedures. Experience in construction, oil & gas, or shutdown projects is highly preferred. Safety Officers should ideally hold certifications such as NEBOSH or equivalent qualifications, while WPR candidates must be familiar with permit-to-work systems and site documentation processes. Strong communication skills, teamwork ability, and the capacity to work under pressure in fast-paced environments are essential. Familiarity with approved systems like SATROP, Kemya, and other industrial safety standards is considered a strong advantage for applicants.
