Job Role Overview & Importance
Instrument and Electrical Technicians are essential to the successful startup and operation of industrial plants, offshore platforms, and energy facilities. Instrument technicians ensure that sensors, transmitters, valves, and control systems function accurately for safe operations. Electrical technicians maintain power systems, panels, motors, and related equipment that keep facilities running efficiently. During pre-commissioning and commissioning phases, these roles become even more important because systems must be tested, calibrated, energized, and verified before operations begin. Their expertise directly supports safety, production readiness, and project completion.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Selected candidates will perform inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance duties based on project requirements. Instrument technicians may calibrate transmitters, pressure gauges, temperature devices, control valves, and monitoring systems. They will also assist with loop checking and commissioning procedures. Electrical technicians may install cables, inspect panels, test motors, verify circuits, and support energization activities. Both categories will work closely with engineers, supervisors, and client representatives to ensure systems meet quality and safety standards. Candidates must follow offshore safety rules, maintain documentation, and complete assigned work within project timelines.
Skills, Experience & Eligibility
Applicants must have previous experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning projects, especially in oil and gas, offshore, refinery, or industrial sectors. Strong technical knowledge in their relevant trade is required. Candidates should understand testing procedures, reading drawings, troubleshooting methods, and safety compliance. Technical diplomas, vocational training, or trade certifications will be an advantage. Good communication skills, discipline, and teamwork are important.
