Fire Watch (Industrial Safety Role)
Description
Jabal Al Safat Trading Est. has announced an urgent job opportunity for experienced Fire Watch personnel for an ongoing industrial project in SAFCO, Jubail, Saudi Arabia. This role is highly important in oil and gas, refinery, and pipeline environments where hot work activities such as welding, cutting, grinding, and maintenance work are regularly performed. The Fire Watch job is designed to ensure complete fire safety at the worksite by continuously monitoring high-risk operations and preventing any potential fire hazards. In large-scale industrial projects, even a small safety mistake can lead to serious incidents, which is why Fire Watch professionals play a critical role in maintaining a safe working environment. This position is ideal for candidates who have SAFCO approval and previous experience in Gulf-based industrial safety operations.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibility of a Fire Watch is to ensure strict fire safety compliance during all hot work activities. The selected candidates will be required to continuously observe welding, cutting, and other heat-generating operations to detect any sparks, smoke, or fire risks at an early stage. They must ensure that fire extinguishers and safety equipment are properly placed and fully functional before any work begins. Fire Watch personnel are responsible for standing by throughout the entire duration of high-risk tasks and must be ready to respond immediately in case of an emergency situation. They will also coordinate closely with HSE officers, supervisors, and work permit teams to ensure that all SAFCO-approved safety procedures are strictly followed. Maintaining constant alertness, discipline, and quick response ability is a major part of this role. Additionally, Fire Watch staff must ensure that unauthorized personnel do not enter restricted hot work zones.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates applying for this position must have SAFCO approval and prior experience in oil & gas, refinery, or industrial construction projects. A strong understanding of fire prevention techniques, hazard identification, and emergency response procedures is essential. Applicants should be physically fit, attentive, and capable of working in high-temperature and high-risk environments for long hours. Basic knowledge of safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and alarm systems is required. Good communication skills are necessary to coordinate effectively with site supervisors and safety teams. Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or other Gulf countries will be considered a strong advantage. Candidates must also have the ability to follow instructions strictly and maintain high levels of discipline on site.
