Job Role Overview & Importance
Fire Watch personnel, also known as Standby Men, are responsible for ensuring safety during hot work activities such as welding, cutting, and grinding. In industrial environments like Jubail, where petrochemical and construction projects operate at a large scale, fire hazards must be strictly controlled. The Fire Watch acts as a safety observer whose main duty is to detect sparks, fire risks, or unsafe conditions and respond immediately. This role is critical because it helps prevent accidents, protect workers, and ensure compliance with strict industrial safety regulations.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Selected candidates will be stationed at work areas where hot work activities are being performed. Their primary responsibility is to continuously monitor the site for fire hazards and ensure all safety precautions are followed. Duties include inspecting the area before work begins, keeping fire extinguishing equipment ready, observing welding or cutting operations, and immediately reporting any unsafe situation. Fire Watch personnel must remain alert at all times, follow supervisor instructions, and ensure no unauthorized risks occur during operations. Maintaining discipline and continuous attention during duty hours is essential.
Skills, Experience & Eligibility
Applicants must have prior experience in industrial safety roles or similar site-based positions. Saudi Kayan authorization is mandatory for this position, making it suitable only for candidates who already meet approval requirements.
