Description
The Instrument Technician plays a key role in ensuring smooth operation of industrial control systems used in oil, gas, and petrochemical plants. These systems depend on accurate instrumentation for measurement, monitoring, and automation. Along with technicians, other skilled trades such as welders, fitters, electricians, and helpers contribute to successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Instrument Technicians are responsible for installing, calibrating, testing, and maintaining field instruments such as pressure, temperature, level, and flow devices. They must troubleshoot faults, repair equipment, and ensure all instruments function according to technical standards. The role also involves preventive maintenance to reduce breakdown risks and support uninterrupted operations. Other manpower categories, including welders, fitters, and electricians, are responsible for fabrication, installation, wiring, structural works, and general support tasks as per project requirements. All workers must follow strict safety procedures and maintain proper documentation of their activities.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates must have strong technical knowledge of industrial systems and hands-on experience in oil and gas projects. Instrument Technicians should understand calibration techniques, control systems, and field instrumentation equipment.
